SHOWERS Nothing feels better and helps you relax more than a shower after a day of fun and activity in the outdoors. Most campgrounds have showers, but it is not like home. The size shower, the water temperature (yes, sometimes there is NO hot water available), the water pressure, the shower cleanliness and the line of people waiting to use the shower are all common complaints heard around campground. You just have to make the best of it. The following tips will help with your experience: Use a shower bag - this is a waterproof bag that you can carry all your items and clothes in. Or use a 5 gallon bucket for the same purpose--you can also use it as a seat if waiting in line Flip-flops or shower shoes - Use a pair of flip flops to protect your feet Soap - Use a plastic soap container to store your soap. Wash clothes -remember to pack them. A roll of Quarters - Many showers may be coin operated. Shower at off times - Plan your shower during off times when it is less crowded - very early morning, early afternoon, later in the evening Don't fuss at camp - leave the makeup, special soaps and lotions, hair dryer and curling iron, razors, etc. at home. Invest in a camp shower - It's a large plastic bag with a spout that you can hang up to use. Shower pumps can add additional convenience. Expect cold showers, but be happy with a lukewarm one some facilities do not offer hot water showers...so prepare yourself! |
